Imperator - an honorific title given to an emperor or to a victorious general.
Imperium - the executive authority wielded by the emperors and by other magistrates, such as consuls or
praetors.

Legate - an officer who fulfilled a number of duties for the emperor or the Senate, either military or
political in nature.

Magister Militum - (master of the soldiers) the top-ranking commanders during the period of the Late
Empire (4th5th centuries A.D.); originating in the 4th-century creation of the titles magister equitum
(master of the cavalry) and magister peditum (master of the infantry). 
Magister Officiorum - the magistrate in charge of correspondence, petitions and other areas for the
imperial government of Rome.

Notarii - the imperial service of notaries or secretaries, most active in the Late Empire.

Patricians - the hereditary nobility of Rome.
Plebeians

the general, non-aristocratic population of Rome, sometimes shortened to plebs.
Praetot - a magistrate with legal and judicial powers, below a consul.
Prefect - of the Praetorian Guard also Praetorian prefect; originally the commander of the Praetorian
Guard and later a leading figure in the imperial government. 
Princeps - the term used to designate an emperor or politician as "First Statesman," an honorific title.
Princeps senatus designated the most senior or honored member of the Roman Senate. 
Proconsul - the governor of a province during the Republic and the governor of a senatorial province
during the imperial era.
